Admission

Students are eligible for admission to TEAK in the fall of their sixth grade year.  Please refer to the eligibility requirements below to see if you qualify for admission to TEAK.  If you do, please fill out the Admission Info Request Form.  Through a comprehensive process that begins every fall, applicants participate in several rounds of screening that include a financial assessment, diagnostic tests, a written application, and interviews. TEAK Fellowships are awarded based on both academic merit and financial need. Eligibility Requirements
Qualified candidates MUST:

  • Be enrolled in sixth grade at the time of their application
  • Attend a public or parochial school in one of the five boroughs of NYC and be a NYC resident
  • Earn 90% or above in all classes
  • Obtained a scaled score of 337 or above on the 5th-grade ELA and 346 or above on the 5th-grade math tests and/or scored in the 90th percentile on other standardized tests taken in the 5th grade
  • Come from families with financial need
  • Provide proof of academic merit and family income
  • Be citizens or permanent residents of the United States
  • Must have strong attendance and punctuality records

Pathway from TEAK Admission to College

Registration for TEAK's information sessions is now open.  If you are interested in participating in TEAK's admission process, you and a parent/guardian must either attend an information session.  The information session will introduce you to TEAK's programs and explain the admission process in detail.

    October 2014 2014-2015 Admission season begins

    November/December 2014 Admission Information Sessions are held 

    January 2015 Application period and students take first admission test

    February 2015 TEAK selects finalists 

    March/April 2015 Selected finalists are interviewed

    May 2015 TEAK selects the new class
