ACADEMIC SUPPORT & ENRICHMENT

Specialized Tutoring At TEAK (STAT)
Math, Writing, Science, and Foreign Language support is offered to all high school students in the format of one-on-one tutoring sessions. The format and content of STAT sessions are based on the individual needs of each student, including homework help, project work, and exam preparation.  Enrichment tutoring is also available based on student interest and tutor availability.

For information on becoming a TEAK tutor, visit TEAK Volunteer Opportunities or contact Beth Onofry, (212) 288-6678 x115.

Curriculum-Based Classes
All eighth-grade Fellows attend writing and algebra classes in the spring.  These 4-month after-school courses further develop students' writing and algebra skills in preparation for the rigors of high school.  Through study of short stories, students build skills in reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, literary analysis, and expository writing.  In an attempt to have all Fellows on the Calculus AB/BC track in high school, students take a spring algebra course, which is a continuation of the Summer Institute algebra course.
