EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Lynn D. Sorensen
Lynn became TEAK's Executive Director in December 2005, after joining the program full time in April of the same year. She has been involved with TEAK since its founding in 1998, first as an admission consultant and volunteer Mentor, then as Secretary of the Board of Directors.

Lynn earned a Bachelor's degree from the University of California at Berkeley and a Master's degree from Teachers College at Columbia University as a Klingenstein Fellow. She began her career at Summerbridge, an education program for underserved youth, where she worked for over twenty years. She was appointed as the East Coast Executive Director for Summerbridge National in 1992. During her tenure, Lynn facilitated the start-up of forty new Summerbridge sites and founded Summerbridge Manchester in New Hampshire.

Continuing her work with youth and education, Lynn was the Director of Financial Aid & Outreach for ten years at the prestigious Riverdale Country School. In addition to allocating nearly $4 million in financial aid to students, Lynn was also involved in the school community as an advisor to seniors applying for college financial aid, as a photography teacher and middle school advisor, as a member of the Admissions Committee, as the school liaison on diversity issues, and supervisor of Summerbridge at Riverdale.

With her extensive and varied experience in the areas of education, financial aid, and fundraising, Lynn is an invaluable asset to The TEAK Fellowship community. Her career has been and continues to be committed to helping talented, dedicated students open doors to opportunity and realize their potential.
