The Spring Intensive (SPIN)
Class 12, the newest addition to The TEAK Fellowship, is starting the Spring Intensive. SPIN is a six-week program that focuses on math, Latin, time management, note taking, and much more - all tools that the Fellows will need to become productive students!
TEAK Class of 2015
On April 12th, TEAK welcomed its twelfth class during Orientation, where students were able to meet their TEAK classmates & staff members. These 30 students hail from 4 of the 5 boroughs, come from 18 different countries, and participate in activities such as robotics, peer mediation, student government, baseball, and volleyball. Welcome Class of 2015!
Spring College Visits
Class of 2011 Fellows recently went on the Spring Break College Trip, visiting Yale, Connecticut College, Wesleyan, Trinity, Amherst & UMASS. Fellows could explore campuses, meet with TEAK Alumni who are current students, and sit in on a variety of classes. What a great way to get a taste of college life before they apply!
Summer Internships
The Private Enterprise Internship (PEI) program connects TEAK Fellows with paid summer internships. It's a great opportunity for students to gain office experience while exploring their career interests. If you are interested in hiring a high school Fellow this summer, please contact Gina Lucas at glucas@teakfellowship.org.
TEAK Pilots Human Rights Through Art Program
To further help Fellows become responsible global citizens, TEAK has a new program called Human Rights Through Art, which focuses on using art to address human rights issues. Students are creating books, poetry, collages, and their own documentary. They have also designed, screen-printed, and sold t-shirts and tote bags to help provide tuition, clothing, textbooks, medical care, and a school trip for 3 orphaned children in Tanzania.
